The mother of
Esteban Nicolás Lagos
, the Federal Police agent killed during an assault aboard a bus in the Barracas neighborhood of Buenos Aires, said today that she believes her son did not shoot first because he thought "he was going to go to prison."

The woman, a mother of three police children, affirmed that Lagos "worked like a madman, twelve hours a day, had a two-year-old girl

Fabiana wondered what she will say to her granddaughter "when she asks for her father" and maintained that

Meanwhile, Ignacio, one of the two brothers of the victim, affirmed that Esteban "had a life ahead of him, he was young, he was a good person, a good kid."
"How can a vest pierce the bullet? I do not know if they are defeated or what but at least there is justice," he concluded.
The incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. on Monday aboard an inmate on line 100, branch 1, which was circulating on Vieytes street, between Quinquela Martín and Suárez, where two armed criminals got on.
Lagos, the Federal Police agent killed above a bus in Barracas, received four bullets, as determined by the autopsy, judicial sources reported.
Meanwhile, the passenger who was also killed,
Juan Roberto Bonifacio
(43), who worked as a street sweeper, received a single shot that entered from the back and affected several organs.
"This man was in one of the seats facing the rear window, that's why the shot entered him from behind," one of the investigators told Télam.
In addition to the two deceased, there were two other passengers wounded by gunshot wounds, although none were serious.
