Zhang Jianhua, the former dean of the Kangqiao Home for the Disabled, was sentenced to 33 months in prison for five times for indecent assault on a girl attending the same school for the visually impaired more than 30 years ago. He refused to accept the conviction appeal. The appeal court refused to accept his appeal. He today ( 21st) Apply again.

Zhang Jianhua insisted that the female victim admitted to the wrong person and believed that there were multiple "coincidences" in the case. The chance of her conviction was only 1 in 1024. The trial judge ruled that there was no reasonable doubt. However, the Court of Appeal considered that the conviction was safe and rejected the application today.

5Indecent assault convicted 33 months

Zhang Jianhua, the appellant, was ruled that between 1982 and 1986, he was not the host X in the school's library, recreation room, and Wuxisha summer camp dormitory.

The victim was between 7 and 12 years old. He was finally convicted of 5 indecent assaults and sentenced to 33 months in prison.

He had previously applied for permission to appeal to the Court of Appeal but was rejected. He updated his rationale for appeal today and applied for permission to appeal.

Many coincidences in Zhang Zhi's case

Zhang Jianhua did not have a lawyer's representative today and made his own statement. He stated in the appeal document that there were many "coincidences" in the case, including that the victim was not witnessed when he was repeatedly sexually assaulted. After being assaulted, he knew that he would have physical contact while swimming in the water. Calling "Brother Jianhua" to teach swimming, all the "coincidences" add up, the chance of conviction is only 1 in 1024, but the trial judge ruled that it has reached the standard of no reasonable doubt.

Think the victim admits the wrong person

Zhang also pointed out that when the victim gave a testimony, he could not remember when he knew "Brother Jianhua", his height, profile, and voice characteristics. He also canceled the procedure of using voice to identify people, thinking that the conviction was unfair.

He said that after receiving the complaint, the social worker was actually investigating the sexual assault incident in the school swimming pool, not the Wuxisha summer camp incident, and he had never taught swimming in the school, thinking that the victim admitted the wrong person.

Court of Appeal for the conviction is safe

The judge of the Court of Appeal, Peng Weichang, said bluntly that the dispute in this case was to deny the wrong person.

Peng Guan bluntly stated that Zhang was a "star" in the school. The victim also claimed that the prisoner used swimming medals to lure her to be alone, and that she had "faced up" when she violated.

The Court of Appeal finally found that the conviction was safe and immediately rejected its application for leave to appeal.
