It has now happened what none of them wanted at SC Riessersee.

But they also knew that it was basically just a matter of time.

And that time is now: The ice hockey top division team has had its first corona case.

  • Player complained of headaches and chills on Monday night

  • Infected trained with the team on Monday

  • All players as well as coaches, supervisors and responsible persons have already been tested

All players in quarantine, some of them as a precaution

One player showed symptoms on Monday night.

Chills and headaches plagued the SCR actor.

In short, a test was ordered.

The result: positive.

This player took part in team training at the Olympic Ice Sports Center on Monday.

The consequence: All people who trained on Monday have to go into quarantine at home.

But not only they are at home now.

Even those who weren't there on Monday stay at home for now - as a precaution.

“We don't want to take any risks and only now wait for everyone's test results,” emphasizes SCR managing director Pana Christakakis.

Infected people are already doing better in terms of health

It was announced on Wednesday that two players from the ECDC Memmingen had Covid-19.

As a precaution, the Garmisch-Partenkirchner canceled their test games against Deggendorfer SC planned for the upcoming weekend (we reported).

In the course of this, the players were assigned to the category contact persons (CP) 2 and should be tested.

This happened on Wednesday and Thursday.

Due to the internal case, all white-blue are now listed as CP 1.

Christakakis himself was also tested, but is not in quarantine because he only had contact with the player for a few seconds and was also wearing a mask.

It is unclear where the actor is infected.

At least his health is better now.

The headache and the chills are gone.

Now he only complains of a slight cough and sore throat.

"He's doing relatively well again," says the managing director.

Setback also from a sporting point of view

This situation is also a setback for the SCR from a sporting point of view.

The team will now miss several days of preparation for the season, which is due to start on November 6th.

“That is of course bitter.

But it was only a matter of time before it got us.

It is now important that no other player is infected and that the results are negative. ”Otherwise Riessersee will lose further valuable training days.

Test match against Memmingen also canceled

The lost time should be compensated at least in part by training at home.

As soon as the respective negative test is received, all players receive a corresponding plan for home.

It is also clear that the test match planned for October 31 in Memmingen will not take place.

So when the SCR will be back on the ice is questionable.
