Russia affirmed that the threats made by the United States to impose sanctions on cooperation with Iran will not force other countries to submit to and waive international law in favor of Washington's positions hostile to Tehran.

"We are convinced that the world will not allow the United States to replace international law with opportunistic political directives, as it has become clear to everyone that the self-interests of the American military-industrial complex are behind the intimidation of the alleged Iranian threat," said the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, in her weekly press conference today.

Zakharova indicated that the United States has twice recently failed to implement its plans against Iran in the UN Security Council, which made it try to compensate for the threat to impose unilateral sanctions on cooperation with Tehran and to punish countries that do not agree with its sinister anti-Iran policy.

The Russian spokeswoman confirmed that the American positions and actions are inconsistent with international law and Security Council resolutions, considering that "such behavior is not appropriate for a superpower."

Zakharova added: “If the Americans want to isolate themselves from the rest of the world with a complete veil of sanctions, behind which their inability to negotiate, prejudice and their long-standing contract is managed, this is their business ... However, other countries, including Russia, will continue to pursue an independent foreign policy, independently choose partners and cooperate with them in Areas of mutual interest and benefit, and this also applies to Iran. ”

In another context, Zakharova emphasized that the US military maneuvers in Europe by using weapons that simulate nuclear weapons destabilize the world and may lead to dire consequences.

Zakharova added that "while US nuclear weapons are deployed in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and Turkey, the Americans continue to modernize their nuclear bombs and European members of NATO are using aircraft carrying such weapons."
