The Russian Center for Defense Management announced today that a Russian MiG-31 fighter intercepted a US RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft over the Bering Sea in the Russian Far East.
"Our radars identified air targets as a strategic reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force over the Bering Sea and sent a MiG-31 fighter to intercept it," Russia Today quoted the center as saying in a statement, adding that the Russian fighter returned to its base after the American plane diverted.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced yesterday that two Russian fighters intercepted two US strategic bombers over the Bering Sea.
