Pope Francis' green light to civil union for homosexual couples, reported in a documentary entitled "Francesco", presented in Rome on Wednesday October 21, raised enthusiasm in the homosexual community and deep unease among a majority of Catholics.
Not out of homophobia but because this papal support for a legal status for homosexual couples is argued in the documentary by this quote:
“they have the right to a family”.
This would suggest that François would now support the fight of part of the homosexual community for medically assisted procreation and surrogacy. However, PMA and GPA are precisely, everywhere in the world, two stumbling blocks of the opposition from the Catholic Church where legislation would like to grant these medical techniques to homosexual couples.
The Pope would therefore now go against the moral theological positions of his own Catholic Church… A troubling question for Catholics
