Geretsried -

toys, car seats, clothes and even riding boots: there is actually nothing that is not available in the Caritas second-hand children's shop on Graslitzer Straße.

“But now it's over,” says Sandra Möckel (44) and laughs.

The specialist service manager for work projects and her team are practically sitting on packed suitcases.

The store is expected to move to larger premises on Sudetenstrasse in winter.

Since 2006, the work project for people in special situations has been housed on the garden level of the Caritas Center on Graslitzer Strasse.

In addition to Sandra Möckel, the team includes the coordinator and social worker Eva-Maria Schatton (37) and many hard-working helpers.

"Anyone who wants to shop for children's items in the long term can come," Schatton explains the concept.

The project is partly financed by the district and partly from the money generated.

And that's exactly the crux of the matter.

“It doesn't cover the costs.” So far, the Caritas children's shop has taken goods on commission.

"Now we only accept donations," says Möckel.

The children's shop will soon move into rooms twice as large on Sudetenstrasse.

“Exactly where the Caritas furniture store Carisma is located,” explains Möckel.

She and her colleague hope for synergy effects between the two institutions.

"Customers who have been with us can also look around the furniture store, and of course vice versa."

Due to the larger sales area, the range can also be expanded.

“Up until now we had goods from babies up to size 140,” explains Schatton.

"On Sudetenstrasse we want to go up to size 176 so that we can also offer something for teenagers."

The last renovation work is still in progress on Sudetenstrasse.

The move is expected to take place in winter.
