Mel Brooks, comedian:

"Hello guys, I'm Mel Brooks. And behind me you can see my son and grandson, and they can't be with me. Why? Because of the coronavirus. And Donald Trump doesn't do anything about it. So many people have died. And when you're dead there's not much you can do. So I'm voting for Joe Biden.

This video was tweeted by Max Brooks, son of US comedian and director Mel Brooks.

hits in Germany in the eighties and nineties.

Now - at the age of 94, the 94-year-old has released his first ever political video.

Mel Brooks, comedian:

"I like Joe Biden. I like Joe because Joe likes facts, because Joe likes science. Joe will keep us going. Take a tip from me: Vote Joe!"

Brooks joins a number of celebrities who use their reach to support their preferred candidate for the White House in the US election campaign - or to warn of the opposing candidate.

Jon Voight, actor ("Runaway Train"):

"Biden is evil. Trump has to win. He's real. He'll bring back the people's trust. Those leftists don't stand for the American people. It's the greatest cover-up of all time."

Billie Eilish, singer:

"You don't need me for someone to tell you that there is chaos. Donald Trump is destroying our country and everything that is important to us."

Mandy Patinkin, actor ("Homeland"):

"As an American, as a Democrat and as a Biden supporter, I beg the Biden system not to argue with this maniac anymore. It is an insult to us voters that we have to watch this kind of rawness."

Anyway, Mel Brooks seems happy with his first political video.

Mel Brooks, comedian:

"

Okay, you can go. Thanks. See you soon.

I have to fill out my ballot

. See you

later."
