Daraa - Sana
The Daraa Fire Brigade, in cooperation with two cars from the Nawa Fire Station and the Water Corporation, extinguished a huge fire that broke out today in the Al-Safouqiya Valley in the Golan Valley in the governorate countryside.
The commander of the Daraa Fire Brigade, Colonel Muhammad Mahamid, told SANA reporter that “the causes of the fire that broke out at nine o'clock are unknown,” indicating that the fire lasted for about three and a half hours and affected dense weeds and reeds.
"The wind and the difficulty descending to the bottom of the valley caused a delay in controlling the fire," Al-Mahamid added, pointing out that the long distances forced the firefighting staff to extend about six to seven hoses to reach the bottom of the valley.
Al-Mahamid indicated that as soon as the fire was controlled, the fire engines returned to the place where they were stationed, and one car remained until morning at the scene of the fire as a precautionary mission for fear of renewed fire.
