Soldiers of the Bundeswehr are now supporting the Fürstenfeldbruck district office in identifying the contact persons for infected people.

The Fürstenfeldbruck Air Base provides a total of seven reinforcements so that the enormously increased number of contacts that need to be identified can be managed.

Fürstenfeldbruck - The contact person tracking teams are a central pillar in the strategy to combat the pandemic.

For every infected person who is newly reported to the district office, the so-called contact tracing team (CTT) determines people who had close contact with the infected and could have been infected.

They are informed by the district office and have to go into quarantine to prevent further infections.

Coronavirus Fürstenfeldbruck: number of infections increased sharply

In the past few days, the number of new infections in the district has grown significantly.

The number of contacts that need to be researched has thus multiplied.

An average of ten contact persons are to be found for each newly reported infected person.

This number fluctuates widely.

At one point there were even 50 people affected, reports the district office.

This challenge can only be mastered with enough staff.

The district office has therefore, in consultation with the head of the district liaison command responsible for civil-military cooperation, Lieutenant Colonel Andreas Halscheidt, submitted an administrative assistance application in accordance with paragraph of the Basic Law in order to support the CTT with personnel.

This application was approved by Berlin.

“We were warmly welcomed by our civilian colleagues at the district office.

We are pleased that we can help here and are committed to the task, ”says Halscheidt.

Coronavirus Fürstenfeldbruck: The team of contact investigators

Seven soldiers from the Fürstenfeldbruck air base were assigned to the district administration as reinforcement forces.

Since October 22nd, a total of twelve men have been trained for the new task, taking turns on duty.

This ensures that seven Bundeswehr members support the CTT from Monday to Sunday.

So far, the team for contact tracking consisted of 18 employees who were employed by the government of Upper Bavaria for the CTT.

There are also six employees of the district office, nine from the police, three from the tax office and one employee of the Robert Koch Institute.

“Researching possible infected people is extremely time-consuming, but essential for combating the pandemic.

Especially now that the number of new infections in the district has grown so strongly.

That is why I am very grateful to the Bundeswehr and especially to the air base for the quick commitment of support, ”emphasizes District Administrator Thomas Karmasin

At present, 680 citizens from the district are considered to be Category I contacts (as of October 22nd, 12.30 p.m.).

They were in close contact with infected people and therefore have to go into quarantine.
