Hamas operates a secret cyber and espionage unit from Turkey, the British Times reported today (Friday), according to Western intelligence sources.

According to the report, the Palestinian terrorist organization is carrying out espionage operations from its headquarters in Istanbul, which was established two years ago.

The unit is operated by Hamas' military wing in Gaza, and was set up without the knowledge of the Turkish government.

It is also reported that the unit operates separately from the official Hamas headquarters in the largest city in Turkey, which mainly deals with fundraising.

Activists of the unit are not known to Hamas members in Turkey, of which President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is one of the main supporters.

The organization's secret headquarters is led by Samah Saraj, a senior Hamas figure in Gaza who reports directly to the organization's leader in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar.

And intelligence surveillance, which in some cases includes investigations by Hamas members suspected of infidelity.
