Calls were renewed for anti-racism protests in the United States today, after two people of African descent were killed by US police.
Reuters reported that calls to demonstrate in Waukegan, Illinois, which this week witnessed the killing of an African-American man and woman at the hands of an American policeman, were renewed after dozens of people took to the streets last Thursday in anti-racism protests.
According to Clyde McLemore, founder of the Black Lives Matter movement in Lake County, Illinois, hundreds of people will take part in demonstrations today to protest the killing of 19-year-old Marcelis Stennett and his girlfriend, Tavara Williams.
The killing of African American George Floyd at the hands of American police last May sparked widespread anti-racism protests across the United States over the past months, while American society witnessed other murders committed by police officers against African Americans, including Briona Tyler, who was killed inside Her house without any accountability from the police officers responsible for her murder.
