A mayor does not shy away from any way to get the best out of his community.

The travel expense allowance from Jan Neusiedl (CSU) is still being scrutinized.

Until now, the simple rule for Mayor Jan Neusiedl (CSU) in Grünwald was that a monthly, tax-free travel expense allowance was paid for business trips with one's own car.

Ingrid Reinhart-Maier (Greens) says the amount of the flat rate has to be determined anew for each term of office and decided by the local council.

She is a member of the Audit Committee.

The CSU sees it differently.

Reinhart-Maier wants to adapt the procedure to the legal conditions.

Because: In order to calculate the amount of this flat rate, it is required to keep a logbook for all business trips for three months in order to obtain a representative result.

She made a request to that effect.

"This gives you a value for the monthly flat-rate travel allowance."

So far, according to Reinhart-Maier, the mayor has set a flat rate of 350 euros per month, without a mathematical basis.

“The practice does not match the applicable regulations.” If you divide the current monthly flat rate of 350 euros by 0.35 euros for one kilometer, you would get 1,000 kilometers per month.

Reinhart-Maier considers such long official channels in the case of Grünwald “difficult to imagine”.

The municipal auditing association will also clarify whether this flat rate will also apply in the event of a longer absence from work.

Second Mayor Stephan Weidenbach (CSU) sees no point in changing practice.

It has been used since former mayor Hubertus Lindner.

A decision to continue is not necessary.

Neusiedl does not own a company car, which is why a flat rate reimbursement is a good solution.

Weidenbach does not consider it necessary to keep a logbook for three months.

Nor is he aware that there is such a legal provision.

"If you are unlucky, Mr. Neusiedl has to go to Berlin on business, then the whole bill is no longer correct."

That is not entirely true, if one follows the assessment of the Grünwalder municipal consultancy Gantner.

Peter Gantner explains: “The monthly flat rate only applies to business trips in the Munich district.

Trips beyond this must be billed via the Travel Expenses Act. "
