The timing of the decision still bothers her: But now Senator Lisa Murkowski wants to support Amy Coney Barrett. For the judge, the appeal to the US Supreme Court is almost certain.

The chances of Amy Coney Barrett's entry into the US Supreme Court increased a little on Saturday.

Alaska Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski said she would vote for Barrett.

Murkowski recently spoke out against filling the important judge's post shortly before a presidential election.

Although she remains with her objections to the confirmation process, she considers the candidate of US President Donald Trump to be qualified for the office.

"While I oppose the process that got us to this point, I don't blame her," Murkowski said, looking at Barrett.

She will therefore vote for her, said the senator.

Just one more Republican Senator against Barrett

The final Senate vote on Barrett is expected next Monday.

Republicans have a majority of 53 of the 100 seats in the Senate.

In addition to Murkowski, Senator Susan Collins from Maine had spoken out against a quick replacement of the post of Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died in September.

Collins - like the Democrats - is of the opinion that the winner of the presidential election on November 3rd should decide who will be Ginsburg's successor.

With Murkowski's acceptance, Collins is now the only Republican to oppose Barrett's appeal, according to the AP news agency.

The judges for the Supreme Court are nominated by the President and appointed by the Senate.

With Barrett's entry, the Conservatives would get a dominant majority of six out of a total of nine seats in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court often has the final say in controversial cases, including abortion rights, health care and immigration policies.

In doing so, he repeatedly sets the course for the development of American society.

Most recently, the Judiciary Committee of the US Senate approved the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett.

While the ten opposition Democrats boycotted the vote, the twelve Republicans voted for the conservative lawyer nominated by President Donald Trump.

The Democrats around presidential candidate Joe Biden demand that only the winner of the election should decide on the Ginsburg successor.
