The snowball of the new guidelines has rolled into the entrance of the Hermon site and for the first time since its establishment about 50 years ago, entry to the site will be possible with registration and advance payment.

Although the weather is still relatively warm and the snow still seems far from the summit of Mount Hermon, the only ski resort in the country has started preparing for the season ahead of time due to the corona restrictions, and this coming winter visitors will be spared the familiar traffic jams up the mountain.

The outbreak of the corona posed challenges for the site's management that they have never faced and in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, this year the site will be visited by registering and purchasing tickets in advance only.

This happens after only last winter did the site start operating a new trolley cable car in order to alleviate the increasing loads from year to year.

Despite this, the new cable car will facilitate the success of the challenges posed by the guidelines of the Ministry of Health as it allows entire nuclear families to ascend the Israeli summit of the mountain.

Registration and advance payment will be made through the Hermon website before heading north to spend time on the site.

The system will operate on a limited quota in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

Once the quota is filled, visitors will be forced to postpone their arrival to another date.

The site will also run an enforcement patrol on guidelines that include social alienation, wearing a mask over the nose and mouth and adhering to hygiene.

"On Mount Hermon, it may be easier for all visitors to wear a mask and maintain hygiene because everyone is wrapped and covered from head to toe and the mask can serve as a protective layer from the extreme cold prevailing at the top of Mount Hermon at 2,040 meters," said Mickey Inbar, VP of marketing at Mount Hermon.
