By chance, the Herrsching police came across a brazen case of debit card misuse.

Two officers from the Herrsching Police Department observed late Friday evening how two apparently underage boys tampered with a cigarette machine at Herrsching train station.
In addition to cash, the young people put an EC card for age verification into the machine in order to get their cigarettes.
The inspection confirmed the suspicion that the teenagers (14 and 15 years old) are not allowed to buy cigarettes.
According to the police, the two admitted that the debit card did not belong to them and that they only used it as proof of age.
At first, the officials couldn't believe the answer to the question of where the EC card came from.
Among the young people it is known that they can get this “Kippenkarte” from a man in the district.
As part of the investigation, it turned out that the original owner of the debit card had lost it a long time ago.
The 46-year-old, who misused the card, is now threatened with criminal proceedings for embezzlement and a complaint under the Youth Protection Act.
