Jaws in Sinai:
A 10-year-old boy from Ukraine died after being fatally injured two days ago by a shark bite at the Ras Muhammad dive site in the Sinai Peninsula.
The boy's mother and an Egyptian diving instructor who were also bitten during the incident were seriously injured and hospitalized at a local hospital in Sinai.
Egypt has reported almost no incident so as not to hurt efforts to rehabilitate the Egyptian tourism industry which has been in a difficult situation since the events of the Arab Spring and has worsened even since the outbreak of the corona.
It should be emphasized, however, that although this is a rare and unusual event in which a shark attacks humans, this is not the first time that sharks have been reported attacking divers and bathing in the sea at resorts and diving sites in the Egyptian peninsula.
The shocking incident took place two days ago at one of the popular diving sites in the Sinai Peninsula and is mainly visited by tourists from Russia and Ukraine.
The boy, his mother and a local Egyptian diving instructor arrived at the scene on a yacht and dived in the water with snorkels and not with oxygen balloons.
Eyewitnesses said they spotted a shark attacking the three quickly and cruelly, apparently because he thought it was some kind of prey.
Locals and tourists who were in the area at the time of the incident managed to pull the three out of the water and emergency medical teams provided them with local treatment to stop the bleeding and evacuated them to a local hospital.
Today, as stated, the death of the child who was fatally injured was determined.
