The Krün mountain rescue service does a great job.

On the Sojernweg between Vorderriß and Wallgau, the readiness saves a mountain biker who has had an accident.

Vorderriß / Oberes Isartal - Two injured people saved: That is the positive weekend balance of the Krün mountain rescue service.

The on-call members must have seemed like guardian angels to an unfortunate catcher on Friday when he was lying in a crack in the sand, distorted with pain.

The 50-year-old had taken a mountain bike tour with his wife on the Sojernweg from Vorderriß to the dog stable.

After the Niederbachelalm service hut, the forest road narrows first into a steep path and then to a sand ridge leading from the Grasberg to the Fischbach.

It can only be crossed by pushing.

The man and his bike fell seven meters down the steep gully and seriously injured his thigh.

It is not possible to call for help by mobile phone in this area at the border of the district because there is no mobile phone reception on the south side of the Hohe Grasberg.

"On the Sojernweg and in large parts of the Soiern area, you shouldn't rely unconditionally on your cell phone," advises the head of the mountain rescue service, Sebastian Baumann.

The 50-year-old's companion had to drive back until the emergency call could be made.

Operations manager Baumann sent nine men - six in the jeep over the ox seat and three across the street to the dog stable - on the move after the woman was unable to describe the location of the accident in more detail.

The three helpers, all mountain guides, reached the victim first.

They abseiled down to the injured man, looked after him and pulled him to the climb on a stretcher.

He was transported in the off-road vehicle to the fork in the road leading to Maxruh, where a helicopter crew took him over and flew to the Murnau accident clinic.

“The Sojernweg has already taken a lot of tolls,” reports Baumann.

“The kilometer-long, very steep ascent in one piece to Grasbergau demands a lot from many cyclists physically.” This year, an Isarwinkler suffered a heart attack on this notorious section.

A Lenggrieser, Baumann continues, was reanimated on Sojernweg.

“Which made us happy, of course.” The Krüner Bergwacht was also positive that the relatives even came by personally and brought gifts.

“That doesn't happen often.

Many take help for granted. "

On Sunday, the Krün mountain rescue team recently had to move out.

A 58-year-old mountain climber injured his knee so badly during the tour on the Simetsberg that he could no longer continue on his own.

Operations manager Georg Kammermeier then called for the rescue helicopter "Christoph Murnau", which picked up a mountain guard and flew to the injured person.

The patient was rescued with the rescue hoist on the mountain pine belt under the peak at 1600 meters above sea level and flown to the clinic in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
