An Erdinger pilot and his supplier, a pharmacist, had to answer in court for the abuse of doping substances.

An Erdinger pilot and his supplier, a pharmacist, had to answer in court for the abuse of doping substances.

Erding– “I can't explain why I did that.

I am so sorry. ”This sentence is often heard in court.

But it is seldom as credible as in the case of an Earthener.

The pilot and a pharmacist were charged with violating the anti-doping law.

The proceedings before the Erding District Court were discontinued in exchange for a monetary condition - “a very good deal”, as prosecutor Melanie Martinez noted.

According to the indictment, the pilot had bought drugs that are used in the fitness and bodybuilder scene several times in 2017 and 2018 in the co-defendant's pharmacy in Erding - partly for personal use, partly for resale.

The pilot admitted the first part, but stated that he had never traded.

At most he exchanged them for other doping substances or passed them on at the purchase price.

The pilot openly described his worries in front of Judge Björn Schindler: If convicted of more than 60 daily rates, he would lose his flight license and would no longer be able to work anywhere in the world.

Acquiring a new license would take over six years and cost a six-figure sum.

Driven by existential worries, he dealt with the case himself after he was caught.

Doping is common practice in the bodybuilding scene

He got psychological help in order to understand his motivation at the time, did an MPU preparation, had hair and urine analyzed for months and revealed himself to his employer.

He was still allowed to fly, the company was waiting for the verdict, he said in court.

He has had problems with his intervertebral discs since his military service, so he started bodybuilding.

“I'm not narcissistic.

I only did this for myself, not for the social networks.

I don't have any profiles there either. ”He doped with thyroid hormones and testosterone preparations, among other things, because that's common practice in the scene.

"The severity of my guilt only became clear to me during the psychological work-up," said the 37-year-old.

"Of course you can say that I should have thought about it beforehand," he said to the prosecutor and then added: "But I haven't."

Erdinger doctor "supports" athletes

The pharmacist, who regularly supplied the pilot with prescription drugs, also admitted his guilt: “It was a service of friendship.” Initially, the pilot always had prescriptions.

He got it from an Erdinger doctor who, according to the pilot, “likes to support athletes”.

At some point, however, the recipes no longer existed.

“I knew he could bring me the recipes if I asked for them.

So I continued to give him the medication, ”the pharmacist explained.

“In retrospect, it is difficult to understand.

That is not my claim.

That's not how you run a pharmacy. ”The whole thing doesn't fit into his previous career.

He also worked up the situation and got in touch with the pharmacy chamber.

The 41-year-old has since moved away from Erding and runs a pharmacy outside of the district.

Before the first witnesses were heard, prosecutor Martinez asked for a legal interview with the defense.

Both sides agreed to discontinue the proceedings.

To do this, the pilot must donate 20,000 euros and the pharmacist 25,000 euros to non-profit organizations - and hope to be able to continue practicing their profession.
