For France, the central direction of the judicial police (DCPJ) selected François Di Pasquali, 48 years old.

Former manager of an Italian restaurant, the latter has been a priority objective for the National Fugitive Search Brigade (BNRF) since he vanished in June 2016, on the eve of appearing at the assizes for the rape of a elderly and vulnerable person.

The particularly abject assault took place in June 2009, when an 85-year-old woman traveled by bus to downtown Saint-Étienne to settle personal matters.
