Russia recorded 16,550 new cases of Coronavirus during the last 24 hours, a significant decrease compared to the previous day, while the daily death rate recorded a record increase of 320 cases.
The Russian Operations Center for Coronavirus Control stated in its daily update that the total number of infections in the country amounted to one million and 547774, including 26589 deaths, while 12844 people recovered from Covid 19 during the past day, in the highest daily toll since the beginning of the epidemic, which brought the total of those recovered to one million and 158,940.
The capital, Moscow, also witnessed a decrease in the number of new infections, as it recorded 4,312 cases today, compared to 5,224 yesterday, with a jump in the number of daily recoveries from 2,681 yesterday to 3,269 today, while the death rate remained stable, with 61 cases recorded, compared to 62 yesterday.
In light of the high prevalence of the epidemic in recent weeks, the Russian authorities decided to tighten preventive measures across the country, including tightening the rules for wearing masks and closing restaurants and cabarets at nighttime.
Instructions have also been issued to reinforce the current disinfection system in public transport, taxis, and in other collective accommodation for people in retail outlets, catering facilities, and places where theatrical, entertainment, cultural and educational events are held.
