Severe typhoon Morafe hits Central Meteorological Observatory in Central Vietnam: 2 more typhoons within 10 days

2020-10-27T08:35:47.046Z

At the end of October, the autumn mood is getting stronger. Tropical Cyclone Morafe has intensified into a strong typhoon. It is expected to move to central Vietnam and maintain a distance of about 1,000 kilometers from Hong Kong. The Observatory predicts that its outer cloud belt will gradually cover the northern South China Sea and the coast of South China. The cloud cover in the area has increased, and there will be a few rain showers tomorrow and the next day. The Observatory expects that early next week, affected by the replenishment of the northeast monsoon, the coastal areas of South China will be slightly cooler in the morning and evening, and the minimum will be only 20 degrees next Sunday (November 1). The Morafi landfall dissipated within a day, but the South China Sea wind season has not stopped. The Central Meteorological Observatory of the Mainland predicts that there will be two typhoons in the next ten days.

The observatory stated that tropical cyclone Morafi has intensified into a strong typhoon and will move to central Vietnam in the next one or two days.

The Observatory stated that the dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally sunny weather to Guangdong.

At 12 noon, the strong typhoon Morafi gathered about 670 kilometers east-southeast of Da Nang and is expected to move west-northwest at a speed of about 25 kilometers per hour, crossing the south-central South China Sea.

The continuous wind speed in the center of Morafi reached 165 kilometers per hour, but it did not enter the 800-kilometer warning zone of Hong Kong and maintained a distance of about 1,000 kilometers from Hong Kong. However, its outer cloud belt will gradually cover the northern South China Sea and the coast of South China, thus affecting Hong Kong.

The weather in Hong Kong in the afternoon and tonight is expected to be generally fine and dry in the afternoon. The wind will moderate to the east to northeast, and strong offshore winds will occasionally blow.

The Observatory looks forward to strong winds, increased cloud cover and a few rain patches in the next one or two days.

It's getting better towards the weekend and it will be cooler sooner or later.
