At 3:30 p.m. today (27th), a 67-year-old worker surnamed Tseng worked in a pit about 5 to 6 meters deep in a construction site outside the San Wai Barracks in Fanling. The earth machine fell and hit the male worker. When other workers saw the situation, they immediately called the police for help. The firefighter rushed to the scene to rescue the man. He fell into a coma and was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital by an ambulance in critical condition.

It was seen at the scene that the sign at the entrance of the site read "Military restricted area, no unauthorized entry", and police officers entered the site to investigate the cause of the accident.

A spokesman for the Labour Department said that the prescription was aware of the incident and had sent staff to the scene to understand that the cause of the accident is under investigation.

The Association for the Rights of Industrial Casualties stated that piling works were being carried out at the accident site. There were multiple potholes in the ground. The male victim suffered serious head injuries.
