The Corona period changed world orders in many areas, including the education system.

But perhaps one of the most surprising changes is that it is the students, who usually hope for a holiday or a strike, who want to return to school.

Four children and teenagers - from first to eleventh grade, told us about the longing for friends, the class, and even the teacher and the board.

Want to get to know my teacher better

"I really want to go to school already, I want to get to know my teacher better, because she is very cute, and I studied with her in class only for the first two weeks, and also my classmates, games, breaks, and especially school," says 6-year-old Ariel. Which was supposed to start this year in first grade at the elementary school in the community of Mabuim.

Her parents had so prepared her for this moment, which was avoided, to her sorrow.

The fact that the locality in which she lives was a red locality, prevented her from starting the school year.

"I thank my parents, who make sure I don't get bored, but I do get bored because there is not much to do when my friends can not come to my house, and there are no lessons as I want, and no teacher and no breaks and games. At home, and every day, it's the same and I think "Enough and enough with the corona. I want to get back to routine, and fast."

Moore and Shika Frishta from Moshav Klahim near Netivot sentenced themselves and their two daughters, 6-year-old Ariel and 8-year-old Ella, to relatively complete isolation in their home.

As a result they provide their daughters, in the absence of schools due to the corona, with learning services and self-lessons on a daily basis.

"It's important for us and the girls to maintain a framework of education hours, almost similar to their school hours system," says Moore, "it is important for several reasons: to provide them with educational content that will not lose discipline and have satisfaction from learning at home, even if zoomed in. And also from self-learning. "

Nothing replaces classroom learning

"I will not lie and say that I suffer at home, I play more on the computer, spend more time with my family and my bitch Punch and also watch movies and series, but there is no doubt that our lives have changed. Since March my whole way of learning has changed completely and I feel very strange. My friends and teachers on the computer.

"Even if they develop technology that my teacher will face in three dimensions, it will still not replace the feeling of learning in the classroom, and the feeling as I said is strange. Learning from a distance requires from us children discipline and concentration, which is sometimes very difficult, especially when so many accessible stimuli around us. TV, computer, YouTube, and in short technology.Sometimes students turn off the cameras in zoom class and you can guess what they are doing, playing on the phone or computer, but you really can't blame them. It's just available and accessible.

"It's like putting chocolate in front of a child and telling him not to eat. It's not simple at all.

"I also have a little bit of fear. I'm in sixth grade and the study material is very advanced. I'm been studying zoom for almost half a year, and I'm afraid we're missing a lot of material, because it does not seem to me that everything can be accomplished with this method.

“Sometimes I am allowed to go out to a skatepark or have a friend come to me, but there is nothing to compare to the games we would play together all the friends.

"Yesterday for the first time we had a class meeting in the park and at first we all felt embarrassed, then we were released. I was very happy to see my friends and play with them.

"Finally I prefer to get back to routine, meet my classmates and teachers, rather than through a screen. I think distance learning is not ideal and it can hurt us from many directions. Hopefully the corona will come out of our lives soon."

It's awfully hard to learn to zoom

"I'm the student from Capsule B. That is, when we return to school. She is in the 7th grade in the 7th comprehensive school in HaMa'ayan in Rishon Lezion.

Do I miss him?

Truth be told, half clutch.

Ten days ago I celebrated a bat mitzvah.

Not on a family trip, not at a big event - that's the reality, there's a corona here.

But what remains and continues to operate?

Another zoom and another zoom of the school.

Only the lesson is over.

"On the one hand, it is very difficult for me to learn the material through the zoom, because it is simply impossible to understand it that way, everything is cumbersome and complicated. On the other hand, fun learning from home. I have much more freedom! I am in my comfort zone, do not have to organize too much study and the kitchen Close, jump in and drink something occasionally. This year I moved from elementary to division and the transition is tough. The teachers are tougher and I mostly try to find friends. How do you meet new teachers and friends through the studies Zoom, say? Zoom, zoom, zoom, hard to fit in with you.Think until recently We went around the world without masks, we got to school as usual and today I find myself sometimes coming home because I forgot a mask.

"I will really share with you, I do not understand a word of what they explain to me in Zoom. There is no substitute for face-to-face learning with the teacher and the board. Zoom is lost and then to a private tutor. I think someday we will return to capsules, but it will take a long time to get back to normal. "Corona and it was not fun to stay home in isolation. I thought it would be fun not to come to school, but not fun to get stuck at home without going out."

The Ministry of Education is keeping an eye on us

"Our online learning is done through several apps. Add to that electronic devices like phone, TV, iPad and more, and family members who are at home - and you get ineffective learning. In my opinion, the decision to transfer to online learning is wrong, since 11th grade is the important year Most in high school.

It is not possible for us, the high school students, to learn through this method the matriculation exams that will affect our future, and even the chances of admission to our university or future workplace.

"The current situation is far from over, but decision makers and the education system do not think enough outside the box. I think there are good solutions like outdoor learning in small groups, virtual learning in small groups, an organized capsule distribution program without mixing between classes and each capsule will have a defined place outside to spend it. From my point of view, it seems that the Ministry of Education was not prepared to talk about what was stated. The feeling is that despite the difficulties we are going through during this period, the Ministry of Education is keeping an eye on us. The malls and restaurants will open before the education system. It does not make sense for an entire generation to pay such a high price. "Ultimately, the side effects of the Corona period will accompany us for a long time to come, and it seems that the Ministry of Education is not trying to think of solutions, and is simply letting Israeli students manage on their own."
