The Hong Kong government announced earlier that it would relax social distancing measures, and local tour groups can be grouped with no more than 30 people.

The Tourism Board immediately launched the "Travel in Hong Kong" activity plan. Starting from October 20th, citizens who spend more than RMB 800 at the physical stores of local retail and catering merchants can exchange receipts for a local tour quota, and the planned quota is 10,000 First come, first served. Interested citizens can go to the "Travel in Hong Kong" webpage to report the tour.

Q1. What is a physical retail or catering merchant?

Can online purchase receipts be redeemed for local tour quotas?

Sale refers to the sale of physical goods to the general public. Prepaid or gift cards, door vouchers, transportation tickets, financial products, foreign exchange, etc. are not regarded as physical goods, and catering merchants must hold a valid food business license issued by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department .

As for online shopping receipts, it is more difficult to distinguish the authenticity and it is difficult to eliminate the problem of reprinting receipts. Therefore, only original machine-printed receipts from physical stores are accepted.

Q2. What are the requirements for a valid original consumption receipt?

The public is required to submit the original printed receipt from the merchant before the departure date. The receipt will not be refunded, and reprints or copies are not applicable.

The original payment stubs of credit card, EPS, etc. are not considered as valid originals of merchant machine-printed receipts.

The machine-printed receipt must clearly state the name of the merchant, the item of purchase, the date and the amount of purchase.

Q3. Can a receipt for huge consumption be exchanged for multiple places?

How many receipts can be used to redeem the quota?

Not possible.

There is a limit of 10,000 places for the "Travel in Hong Kong" event. In order to benefit more citizens, each receipt can redeem up to one place.

The designated consumption amount of 800 yuan can be composed of at most two receipts in exchange for one quota.

Q4. Is the consumption amount for children or the elderly to redeem the quota the same?

Who can be exempted?

Yes.

Due to the similar cost of meals and transportation, the designated consumption amount for adults and children is 800 yuan.

Only children under the age of 3 who do not occupy a seat and do not have a meal can be exempted from the specified spending requirement. Each adult participant can bring a maximum of one exempted child.

If the attractions in the itinerary need to be admitted with a ticket, the adult participant must purchase the ticket for the child by himself.

Q5. When does the registration start?

Where can I view the itinerary information?

Starting from October 20th, you can store the original receipts after spending at the physical stores of local retail and catering merchants.

On or after October 27, you can log on to the website to browse the designated local tour information and contact the relevant travel agency to register.

The "Tour Hong Kong" event will last until December 31.

Q6. Is it normal to be required to pay a deposit when registering for a reserved quota?

The travel agency charges a deposit of 100 yuan. Participants can pay the deposit in accordance with the method provided by the travel agency, which will be refunded in cash on the day of departure.

If the tour group is cancelled, the deposit will be refunded in full within 30 days.

Q7. Can I cancel or reschedule the group registration?

Can it be transferred to others to participate?

There is no refund or exchange after the tour group registration. After registration, if the participant cancels the reservation, changes the date or the name of the participant, etc., it will be regarded as a cancellation of the reservation, and the deposit paid will not be refunded.

If participants are absent on the day of departure, their deposit will not be refunded.

Q8. If a participant is unable to attend due to physical discomfort, can it also be refunded?

Participants who have symptoms such as fever, dry cough, or difficulty breathing are not allowed to participate in the same day’s itinerary. The original receipts and deposits paid will be refunded.

However, travel agencies have the right to require participants to submit a medical certificate proving that they have the symptoms.

Can participants report to other groups?

The travel agency will inform the participants of the latest arrangements as soon as possible. For example, if the tour group is cancelled, the participants can choose another departure date or request the return of the submitted receipt and deposit.

If the tour group is finally announced to be cancelled, the public can re-register on the website with the consumption receipt.

Q10. Are there any epidemic prevention measures during the trip to ensure safety?

All travel agencies participating in the "Travel in Hong Kong" activity must sign the "Local Travel Epidemic Prevention Commitment" formulated by the Hong Kong Travel Industry Council to ensure that their tour groups comply with a series of epidemic prevention measures.

Among them, tour guides, drivers and other staff and all participants must wear surgical masks all the way except during meal times; provide participants with disinfectant hand rub or disinfectant wipes; take body temperature for all participants before departure. Let those who are unwell go with the group.
