New York City sex leader Keith Renier was sentenced today (Tuesday) to 120 years in prison and fined $ 1.75 million for offenses involving trafficking in women and turning them into sex slaves.
The 60-year-old Renier harmed women who joined his empowerment group, called "NXIVM" (NXIVM), in which he humiliated and starved them, forced them to have sex with him, "marked" their part with whitewash and other offenses.
The sentence was handed down to him by Brooklyn Federal Court Judge Nicholas Garaoffis, who called Renier "cruel" and his crimes "extremely serious."
At the hearing, the testimonies of 15 of Renier's victims who were previously part of the Nexium group were heard.
The victims, mostly women, described that Lannier had a devastating impact on their lives.
"Stolen from my life years that will never come back."
From the cult, Keith Renier
Federal prosecutors sought to sentence Ranier to prison for the offenses he committed on victims in his empowerment group, which operated near Albany, New York.
His lawyers, however, argued that he was innocent and that he himself was a victim of an unfair trial.
They wanted to sentence him to no more than 15 years in prison.
The first woman to speak in the courtroom before sentencing is a woman who identified herself as Camila.
Camilla described that forced her to have sex with him for 12 consecutive years - since she was a girl of 15, while he was a man of 45.
"He played in my mind for so long, to attempt to find the strength and clarity to tell my story turned into a slow and painful "Camila said.
"He hit me in so many ways. It took a long time to process the trauma he caused."
"Destroyed my family."

Camilla's brother, Adrian, and her mother Adriana, who were also part of Nexium, described that Renier caused a real rift in the family.
According to them, two other family members - Camila's father and older sister who were part of the cult, remained loyal to the guru.
"Before I was part of 'Nexium' my family was close, he destroyed it," Adrian described.
Another former member of the cult is the daughter of TV actress Katherine Oxenberg, India Oxenberg.
During the court hearing she turned to Renier and called out to him: "You stole from a life of seven years that will never come back."

Renier was convicted in June 2019, so a jury in the Brooklyn Federal Court found Keith Renier guilty of all the serious offenses attributed to him.
The prosecutor, Richard Dono, at the same hearing described Renier as a liar manipulator who "destroyed the families, careers, capital and lives" of his victims.
Among the most convicting allegations against the cult leader were the “marking” of some of the women in the initials of his name using bleached iron.
Renier was also convicted of possession of pedophile content.
This is because he took a series of nude photos of teenage girls, including photos of Camila, which were shown to the eight women and four men in the jury.
The prosecution claimed that Renier kept the collection of photos in his private study so that he could blackmail the women through them if they wanted to leave the cult.
