The sales value of the General Company for drying onions and vegetables in Salamiyah since the beginning of this year until the end of September amounted to about 240 million Syrian pounds.
Engineer Hala Shahoud, General Manager of the company, explained in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the sales included several items and foodstuffs such as dried onions, coarse and fine bulgur, falafel, peeled wheat, table thyme, dried mint and molokhia, in addition to the materials that the company packs and wraps such as beans, chickpeas, lentils, cumin and black seeds at competitive prices And remarkably high quality.
Shahoud indicated that the company received 650 tons of wheat during the current season. It manufactured it into bulgur and sold it to public sector agencies and in the Syrian outlets for trade and the social military establishment. It is also working to encourage farmers to expand the cultivation of white onions by providing them with varieties of seeds at competitive prices and receiving all the produced quantities. Pointing out that the company buys white onions, rainbows and padron from farmers and contracting with them at prices set by the company at 250 liras per kilo of onions, 7,000 liras per kilo of padron and 400 and the general company’s plan to dry onions and vegetables peacefully this year includes receiving and processing 1288 tons of onions, rainbow and padron .
