Engineer Ammar Ali, Director of Tartous Industry, revealed that 94 industrial and craft establishments have been implemented and put into work and production from the beginning of the current year until the end of September with a capital of 576 million pounds. It employed 265 workers, including all types of food, chemical, engineering, textile, service and small production industries, in addition to implementing an investment project. A food processor specialized in making ice cream according to the investment law, at a cost of 150 million pounds and a production capacity of 94 million pieces annually, employing 12 workers directly.
Ali referred to the implementation of 36 industrial projects out of the total number of implemented projects, at a cost of more than 400 million, which provided 171 job opportunities, and the rest were various industrial and service craft activities.
Ali called for supporting the implementation of facilities commensurate with the nature of the coastal region to take advantage of the available ingredients, such as fish canning facilities, sea salt extraction, olive oil packaging and squeezing, soap making, citrus juices, in addition to the manufacture of concentrated condensate, cones, pickling vegetables, drying and packing medicinal and aromatic plants.
