A metal rod tied to a maize plant damaged the forage harvester owned by Georg Lutz from Otterfing.
He filed a complaint.
Holzkirchen
- Georg Lutz is shocked: "Something like this could not only damage machines, but in the worst case also injure people," says the 57-year-old farmer from Otterfing.
Last Thursday, at around 12.30 p.m., a Lutz employee was out harvesting a corn field on Brauneckstrasse in Holzkirchen with a forage harvester.
Suddenly the machine stopped automatically because it recognized a metallic object in the mower, according to the police report.
“Someone had tied a 25 centimeter long iron rod with fine wire around a corn plant,” says Lutz.
Despite the stop, parts and blades of the mower were damaged.
According to the police, the damage is around 4,300 euros.
If the machine hadn't stopped, the driver could have been injured, says Lutz.
The farmer has no suspicions as to who might have attached the bar that the police secured.
The police assume willful damage to property by a stranger.
The field belongs to a farmer (37) from Holzkirchen, Lutz works on it as a service provider.
Both have filed a complaint.
According to Robert Hirschel, Vice-Head of the Holzkirchen Police Department, such cases do not occur frequently.
However, there was a similar incident in July.
At that time a farmer from Valley had run over a pole near Grub, and a reinforcement mat had also been laid out.
At that time there was 5000 euros in damage.
The perpetrator has not yet been found.
