The current restrictions are threatening the very existence of many hosts.

Some have already closed.

So the "PapperlaPub" in Geretsried.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

- Hard times for night owls: After the Corona traffic light in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district has been red since Sunday, it is closing time in bars, pubs and restaurants at 10 p.m.

For the restaurateurs, who have already been hit hard by the corona pandemic, this is "extremely threatening to their very existence," says Dr.

Thomas Geppert, Managing Director of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association in Bavaria.

Nicole Barth confirms Geppert's assessment.

After two and a half years as the landlady of the “PapperlaPub” in Geretsried, she had to pull the emergency brake: “With the strict Corona requirements, I could no longer run the shop.” The restaurateur would have had to put all of her private savings into the restaurant to compensate for lost sales .

"And still I would not have survived."

In the pub on Hirschenweg, which is particularly popular with young adults, there is not enough space to cater to many guests with the necessary minimum distance.

"If I had to lock up at 10 p.m., it would have been even worse for me." In September Barth threw in the towel.

“And I don't think I'll take on something new again so quickly.

The next months and the next year “will not be easier for us hosts due to the corona situation,” she says.

Some hosts are temporarily closing

The lights in the Zeppelin bar in the Wolfratshausen industrial park have been out for several months.

Operator Sepp Schwarzenbach decided, as reported, to close his restaurant - but only for a while: “I want to reopen when you can meet with a smile.” When will that be?

“I don't think anyone can really assess that.

The number of infections continues to grow, and the regulations will definitely not be looser, but even tougher, "says Schwarzenbach.

He does not expect barley juice to flow from the taps in the Zeppelin bar until autumn 2021 at the earliest.

The Tingel-Tangel, a night club with a cultural stage in the tower building on Hans-Urmiller-Ring, which Schwarzenbach also operates, is still closed.

"I am now not very optimistic that the situation for pubs and bars will change so quickly," said Schwarzenbach.

The curfew at 10 p.m. - at this point the bar has to be empty - could mean the economic end for many of his professional colleagues, he fears.

The Wolfratshausen Castle Association wants to defy the pandemic for as long as possible: "We are currently planning to open the castle tavern as normal at 6 p.m. and close it at 10 p.m.," reports club spokesman Ernst Gröbmair.

The restaurant in the historic cellar vault on Humplgassl remained closed over the summer months, but has been open again for a few days.

“We installed Plexiglas panes between the tables,” says Gröbmair.

So it is still possible to provide a "decent number" of guests with food and drink.

"But we notice that the frequency has decreased quite a bit." If this negative development continues, the castle tavern will have to close again.

The Pistolero will remain closed for the next few months

In the Classic Shisha Bar and Lounge on Breslauer Weg in Geretsried, the following decision has been made: “During the tightened blocking times, we will now open at 6 p.m. so that our guests can stay longer with us,” says Emir Alas when asked our newspaper.

The fact that the closing time, which has been extended since Monday, falls into the autumn months, when bars and pubs can classically enjoy high visitor numbers, "is of course a shame for us".

Still, Alas doesn't bury his head in the sand: "This is a difficult time that we just have to fight our way through."

With strict distance regulations and a hygiene concept, he and his team would have survived the past few months relatively well, "and we want that to continue".

It is not easy: "Especially guests who live a few kilometers away come less often at the moment because it is simply not worthwhile for them to have to go home at 10 p.m."

A look into the district town: The “Pistolero” in Moraltpark in Bad Tölz announced on Sunday morning on its Facebook page that it was not possible to work economically due to the 10 p.m. curfew.

As operator Johannes Mottl says when our newspaper asked, there was no alternative to this step.

"We tried it last Saturday, but found that most people don't come before 8.30 or 9 pm." That is understandable, since you usually go to a club after dinner.

Mottl emphasizes that those who were there had adhered to all the rules in an exemplary manner.

Economically, however, the whole thing was "close to the limit" with a capacity utilization of no more than 20 percent.

Since he feared that the situation would not improve, he saw “no point” in leaving the “Pistolero” door open.

“We are an evening and night club.

For us, the restrictions are basically an operating ban. ”Mottl cannot predict whether and how things will continue:“ I assume that we will be closed for the next few months. ”
