UK: Most dead on the continent, experts push for closure

The rather chaotic government management of the Corona crisis characterizes the conduct of the British government even in dealing with the second wave of the plague.

Britain has so far paid the heaviest price in Europe: more than 61,000 dead, and again - for the first time since May, the daily death toll stands at hundreds.

Wales and Northern Ireland have already declared a state of advanced closure.

In England, a regional closure method has been implemented, which corresponds to the level of infection in the various counties.

However, given the high mortality rates and the daily infection rate, which reached 27,000 cases a day this week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson is under increasing pressure from health experts in his country to quickly impose a wide, strict and uniform closure on the entire United Kingdom. Larger on the hospitals, which struggled to cope with the first wave, and from hundreds of deaths every day for the next three months. As part of the lessons learned from the failures of the first wave, the UK government ordered 8,000 new respirators, only 5,000 of which arrived. Will cause infection, but medical staff are already reporting difficulties in coping with rising patient numbers.

France: Health system struggles - Macron announces general closure

The highest daily death toll so far in the second wave in Europe was recorded in France, one of the European countries hardest hit by the corona plague: 523 people.

So is the highest number of daily infections: 52,000.

Local health experts make it clear that it is a mistake to attribute the increase in infection data to an increase in the number of tests performed in France.

The plague is spreading much faster this time.

In view of the dire consequences of the nationwide closure imposed in the first wave, the government in Paris tried to delay the imposition of another general closure as much as possible.

At first, a night closure was imposed on Paris and eight other major cities, and last Saturday the night closure was extended to almost all areas of France.

Last night, in a speech to the nation, President Macron announced an extensive series of restrictions that would in effect constitute a new general closure for at least a month.

Also, the French health system is already having a hard time dealing with the dimensions of the epidemic spread.

Germany: Lite closure - the positive image in dealing with the plague in danger

To many in Israel and around the world, Germany has served as an example of the proper management of the corona crisis, both health-wise and economically.

The second wave could shatter this positive image: every day a record number of new infections is broken.

Only yesterday it reached about 15,000, and in Berlin alone it is 1,000.

The number of new infections has doubled in a week, and according to estimates by officials, it is expected to climb to 20,000 in the next few days.

Mortality crossed the 10,000 mark (3%) earlier this week.

Hospitals in Germany still have 7,000 beds available for Corona patients, but health workers' committees are warning of a growing shortage of medical staff.

The German government has sought to avoid a nationwide closure, but despite county states' opposition to drastic moves, the federal government has no choice but to impose increasing restrictions, a "lite closure," on the entire population during November.

Czech Republic: National emergency - first wave missed, second washed away

With a population of 10.4 million people, the Czech Republic became the second wave of the spread of the central corona in Europe, alongside Belgium.

The first wave of the plague swept over the small country of Central Europe almost unnoticed.

The vigilant tourism movement in the summer brought with it the virus and jumped the Czech Republic to the top of European contagion.

With more than 15,600 daily infections (more than Germany), about 160,000 active corona cases and a daily mortality rate of 282 people, the Czech health system is facing collapse: the army has opened a field hospital for victims of the epidemic, Austria and the Netherlands on the outskirts of the capital Move the soul machines.

The government has declared a state of national emergency, which allows it to declare new restrictions at any time.

A nightly closure across the country went into effect on Tuesday.

Czechs are not allowed to leave their homes during the curfew, except for work, health or a walk with the dog.

Greece: Night curfew in major cities - a new record in the number of people infected

Even in the tourist country, which is still recovering from the severe economic crisis it has encountered, there has been a significant increase in the number of people infected with the corona virus since the beginning of the second wave.

Although, relative to other European countries, the data in Greece is still low, and it is at the bottom of the table of affected countries, with about 600 dead.

This week, the highest daily number of infections since the onset of the epidemic was recorded - about 1,300.

Greece, which was barely affected by the epidemic in the first wave, imposed a night curfew on its main cities - Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as a total closure on two provinces where there was a sharp rise in infection rates.

The population was called upon to wear masks anywhere outside the home and to avoid crowds.

Italy: Popular uprising against restrictions - violent clashes in the streets

One of the countries hard hit by the first epidemic is facing a major popular uprising against the restrictions imposed by the central government, in an attempt to halt the sharp rise in infection rates and mortality in recent days.

In Rome on Tuesday evening there were violent clashes between protesters and police forces.

Activists of the neo-fascist movement "Breakthrough Nueva" (New Force) joined the riots.

Violent demonstrations have also taken place in recent days in Milan and Turin in the north of the country.

The protesters there threw Molotov cocktails and stones at the police, set fire to cans and smashed shop windows of shops and businesses.

The Italian government announced a few days ago a night curfew from 6 pm, as well as a complete closure of all places of entertainment - cinemas, theaters, pools, gyms and ski resorts.

At the same time, a € 5 billion aid package was announced for the economically injured from the new restrictions.
