The Post's letter distribution center has cleared the last hurdle.

The city council passed the statutes resolution for the necessary development plan with a clear majority and at the same time changed the land use plan.

A postponement by the Greens to give the initiators of a referendum more time was rejected at the beginning of the meeting.

Germering

- SPD parliamentary group spokesman Daniel Liebetruth asked Mayor Andreas Haas at the beginning of the meeting to accept the request of a citizens' initiative (BI) and to postpone the agenda items to the mail center by two weeks.

As is well known, after rejecting the first request due to formal errors, BI started a new attempt to prevent the letter center.

In just one week, says Liebetruth, the BI has already collected over 1000 signatures despite Corona.

But around 2300 would be necessary.

Mayor Andreas Haas replied that this was not permitted for legal reasons.

However, each city council is free to make this request.

But Liebetruth refused.

His reason: "That must come from the citizenship."

Greens spokeswoman Agnes Dürr then took it over and applied for an adjournment.

There is no time pressure, she said.

Real citizen participation must be made possible.

The formal errors of the first request are not the responsibility of the signatories.

However, only 17 city councilors of the Greens, SPD, ÖDP and FDP voted for their application.

The 23 representatives of the CSU and Free Voters rejected him.

Clear majorities

The majorities in the votes on the development plan and the changed land use plan were then somewhat clearer.

For the development plan, 26 against 14 city councilors voted.

Only 13 councilors rejected the zoning plan.

The Green parliamentary group was divided: three of the eight representatives present (Christian Huber, David Kulbe and Filiz Gropper-Schächter) voted for the letter center.

Third mayor Sophie Schuhmacher (Greens), who had previously spoken out in favor, was absent.

In terms of content, there was no longer any major discussion of the Post's planned project.

City architect Jürgen Thum referred to the Environment and Building Committee, which had discussed the issue in detail two weeks ago.

Accusations from the opponents

Daniel Liebetruth (SPD) and Sepp Dürr (Greens) tried in vain with fundamental considerations to influence the majorities.

Dürr was of the opinion that it was not enough if the project complied with the requirements and all the rules: “We live in times of crisis.

The business principles for such a procedure have changed. ”The project means a gigantic surface sealing and ensures even more traffic.

The longstanding member of the state parliament still said the way in which the citizens' petition was dealt with was a sign of poverty.

From his point of view, the project should be pushed through.

Among other things, Liebetruth spoke of the fact that the SPD would like a business that fits Germering in its size and offers high-quality jobs.

That is not the case with the Post.

The expected traffic load is also too high.

He called for fair dealings with citizens whose requests have failed due to Corona.

The approach of the city is wrong and undemocratic.

Counter arguments

CSU parliamentary group leader Oliver Simon reminded that the city council had been dealing intensively with the issue for two years.

Nobody wants to push anything through, all groups have not made it easy with their respective decisions.

It is also wrong that the citizens were too little involved.

The objections had been addressed.

Worries were not simply wiped away, but dealt with properly.

Martina Seeholzer (FWG) said: "You should accept decisions that have been made." In times of crisis, it is also important to ensure clarity.

Peter Klotz (FDP) spoke out in favor of more thoroughness in the decision.

He shared the concerns about the landscape and traffic development.

However, it is also not bad that jobs are created: "There are no good or bad jobs."

Mayor Andreas Haas said that a process that lasts two years is a thorough one.

There have always been responsible discussions, even beyond the change after the March city council elections.

There are of course easier decisions, Haas continues.

However, he must say very clearly: "Nothing is pushed through here."

That says the OB

The town hall chief explained to the citizens' petition that this was of course difficult because of Corona.

However, this is not a justification for working with incorrect arguments in the rejected first request.

Haas then repeated an argument that he had used before.

It is obvious that parts of the letter center opponents did not want the post office, but wanted business.

Others, however, wanted to leave everything as it is.

He always pointed out that the proponents of the current situation should submit a corresponding application.

But that never happened.

Sepp Dürr countered with legal subtleties and said that it was up to the city to make this request.

Because the current zoning plan depicts exactly this current situation.

In his opinion, the development plan should have been developed from the land use plan.

But that was not the case here.

Oliver Simon and OB Haas, both lawyers, rejected Dürr's assessments as incorrect.

Landscape architect Andrea Gebhard fended off further attacks by the Green politician against the environmental report in the zoning plan.

She repeated her earlier assessment that a commercial property with an ecological showcase character is being built here.
