France
tightened
exit
restrictions across the country
.
President
Emmanuel Macron
announced the new
lockdown
in a televised address.
The measure will take effect on Friday, October 30th.
Spain
had already
imposed a
state of alarm
during the week
.
Celebrations with more than six participants are currently prohibited.
Health Minister Salvador Illa
is now in need of an explanation because of this rule.
Because he took part in a gala evening.
The indignation over a "party of the elite" was promptly great, around
80 people
attended the celebration in the Casino of Madrid.
"I was there, like many others," quoted the
German press agency
from the
minister's official apology
.
However, he admits that he only attended the event for the
award of a prize to the Spanish armed forces
.
They were honored for their
dedication during the pandemic
.
Then he left
the party immediately
without
attending
the
banquet.
"The best safety distance is not to go there in the first place", he explains his departure before the joint meal, but at the same time points out that
all regulations have been observed
.
The newspaper "
El Espanol
" also confirms that the gala even ended
an hour before the ordered curfew
.
In its role model function, however, the visit was a faux pas for Health Minister Illa.

containing the pandemic
.
Corona in Turkey: Exemptions no longer apply - travel warning from November
Update from October 28, 5:05 p.m.:
The federal government is putting the
travel warning
back into force for all of Turkey on November 9 due to the corona pandemic.
The previously existing exemption for the tourist regions of Aydin, Izmir, Mugla and Antalya on the Mediterranean would only apply until November 8, the Foreign Office announced on Wednesday in its travel advice for Turkey on the Internet.
Turkey has been a risk area since mid-June.
Only before traveling to the tourist regions of Aydin, Izmir, Muğla and Antalya was not warned.
Because of the second corona wave, the Federal Foreign Office is now reactivating the #travel warning for these regions.https: //t.co/nKcINrYe01
- RND (@RND_de) October 28, 2020
The German government lifted the travel warning at the beginning of August after urging the Turkish government.
The prerequisite for this was a special
tourism and hygiene concept
, which included a negative corona test upon departure, which must not be older than 48 hours.
The tests are to be arranged by the returnees at their own expense (between 15 and 30 euros).
Update from October 28, 3:36 p.m.:
According to
AFP
, authorities around the world reported a total of over half a million new infections within 24 hours, which is a new record.
The increase in corona infections is only partly explained by the fact that more tests are being carried out in the countries than before.
According to the count, the virus is currently spreading fastest on the
European continent
: In the past seven days, the
number of new infections
averaged over 220,000 per day;
that's an increase of 44 percent compared to the previous week.
The number of deaths per day in Europe will soon hit the
2,000 mark
.
However, this is still significantly less than the average of 4,000 deaths per day that were recorded at the height of the first wave of infections in spring 2020.
Coronavirus in Austria: lockdown for short "ultimate measure"
Original article:
Munich - The
corona pandemic
is currently
picking
up speed.
Almost 15,000 new cases were reported
in
Germany
on Wednesday - a sad record.
Politicians therefore appeal to the population and make it clear: The situation is serious, and it is in all of Europe.
Because not only in the Federal Republic of Germany are more new infections reported every day.
Elsewhere the situation is even more precarious.
An overview.
The corona situation in
Austria
is getting worse.
Most recently, the daily new infections were always over 2400, last week even more than 3600 new cases were reported.
The focus of the country remains
Vienna
.
In the capital, 4,375
Covid-19 cases
were reported
within a week
.
But
Upper and Lower Austria
(3635/2834) are also badly affected.
The black-green federal government is therefore challenged.
“If growth continues at this rapid pace, we will reach the limits of the resilience of intensive care medicine.
We have to prevent that, ”said Chancellor
Sebastian Kurz
(ÖVP) recently.
Even a second
lockdown
is no longer impossible,
however, is the "ultimate measure".

Coronavirus in France: 52,000 new infections within one day - million mark cracked
The situation in
France
is currently extremely tense
.
A few days ago, the Grande Nation reported a worrying 52,010 new infections in one day.
In the meantime, the numbers have declined significantly, but in view of more than 33,000 new cases on Tuesday, there can be no talk of relaxation.
Especially since the number of daily deaths has recently doubled to 523.
France
has now had more than a million Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.
As the broadcaster
BFM TV
reported on Tuesday evening, the French government is discussing a further tightening of the measures, but they should not be as drastic as in March.
It is expected that President
Emmanuel Macron will comment
on the corresponding restrictions on Wednesday evening.
To contain the virus *, there is already a night curfew for around two-thirds of the country's residents, i.e. around 46 million people.
During the night, people in the affected departments are only allowed to leave their homes with a valid reason.
Corona in Spain: Prime Minister Sánchez wants an emergency by May 2021
Even
Spain
gets
Corona
not really under control.
18,418 new cases were added on Tuesday, as in
France
the one million infected mark has been exceeded for a few days.
While the daily deaths had to be counted on one hand in the summer, the country is now putting 283 Covid-19 deaths on alert within 24 hours.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez
proclaimed a renewed
health
emergency last week
.
It is currently valid for two weeks,
but
according to
Sánchez
it should be extended until May 2021, i.e. for more than half a year.
This still has to be voted on in Parliament.
The outcome is open, as the conservative opposition vehemently speaks out against it.
What the restrictions could then look like is already apparent at the moment.
There are currently strict mask rules and no nighttime going out.
Corona in the Netherlands: hospitals overloaded - partial lockdown arranged
A rapid increase in new infections has recently been observed
in the
Netherlands
.
On Tuesday, the number of new cases was in the five-digit range for the second day in a row.
Because many hospitals are overloaded, the first Covid-19 patients have already been placed in German clinics.
To get the pandemic under control, a so-called
partial lockdown
has been in place since October 14
, which means restaurants and bars are closed.
Due to the tense situation, the Foreign Office issued a travel warning for the whole country.
Coronavirus in Belgium: Incidence values of up to 2000 - work defies infection
In neighboring
Belgium,
there is a risk of complete loss of control.
In the country with a population of over ten million, the daily new infections were recently always in the five-digit range.
Over the past seven days, over 13,000 new cases have always been found nationwide - more than in
Germany, which is
many times larger
.
In the EU, only the
Czech Republic
currently has
more infections
relative to the number of inhabitants
.
In the major cities of
Brussels
and
Liège
, the
incidence
values
climbed
to 1700 and 2000 respectively last week. The health system is on the verge of collapse, as more than half of the intensive care beds are already occupied.
According to the union, the hospital staff has to work despite the
corona infection
.
Otherwise, the emergency situation on site is not manageable.
There is a strict mask requirement and a nationwide curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Corona in the Czech Republic: Lockdown-like conditions - the country is at a standstill
The
Covid-19 situation
in the
Czech Republic has been
out of control for
weeks
.
Germany's neighbor is slipping through the crisis - even though the
EU state led
by
Prime Minister Andrej Babis was
once considered a pioneer in the field of pandemic control.
The Czech Republic has a population similar to Belgium and also has a worrying number of new infections.
15,663 new cases were reported on Tuesday.
The country is currently in a lockdown-like state.
Only basic supply shops such as grocery stores or pharmacies are still allowed to open.
A night curfew also applies from Wednesday.
The residents are no longer allowed to leave their homes between 9 p.m. and 4.59 a.m.

Coronavirus in Sweden: Despite increasing numbers - country is sticking to Sonderweg
The number of cases has increased in almost all European countries.
Even
Sweden
is * not eviscerated before autumn wave.
On Tuesday, the national health department reported 1870 new infections, the highest daily value since the end of June.
Nonetheless, the Scandinavian country wants to stick to its special path.
The course remains loose.
In
Sweden there
can be no question of tightening the measures at the moment.
Mask requirements or curfews do not apply in the country - and should not be introduced according to the current status.
Sweden's chief epidemiologist
Anders Tegnell
warns of nationwide corona restrictions: "People can only adhere to such strict instructions for a limited time and timing is crucial," he warns and says: "We must not start too early and not too long either waiting."
Corona: The 14-day incidence in Europe (source: WHO, as of October 28, 11 a.m.)
1. Andorra
: 1724 cases per 100,000 population
2. Czech Republic
: 1375
3. Belgium
: 1297
4. Armenia
: 772
5. Luxembourg
: 758
7. Netherlands
: 702
10. France
: 648
18. Austria
: 318
19. Spain
: 308
37. Germany
: 143
43: Sweden
: 98
The incidence values * of the countries, which show how many people become infected per 100,000 inhabitants, are more meaningful than the pure case numbers.
The
World Health Organization
gives these numbers over a period of two weeks.
The WHO data underline how precarious the situation is in the
Czech Republic
, the
Benelux countries
and
France
, but also show that
Germany
and
Sweden are
currently less affected by the pandemic than in other European countries.
As always in these dynamic times, the data is only a snapshot.
So you shouldn't rest on that.
