District

- After around 600 employees of the Schongau hospital and the patients who were currently being treated there were tested in the past few days, it is slowly becoming clear how serious the situation really is.

As the

Krankenhaus GmbH Weilheim-Schongau announced

yesterday, 38 employees of the

Schongau hospital

have so far

tested positive for the corona virus.

You are in

quarantine

at

home

and of course you are not allowed to go to work.

However, it was also announced that

17 patients

who are being

treated as

inpatients

in

Schongau

have contracted the virus.

They are called "nosocomial".

In plain language: You were

infected

in the

hospital

.

When asked yesterday, hospital managing director Thomas Lippmann confirmed that “all affected patients were of course tested negative when they were admitted to the hospital”.

However, he did not want to rule out that “in individual cases it could also be that they were infected by visitors”.

In

the Schongau hospital

, however, there has been a complete

visitor

freeze for several days

.

The affected patients were placed in an

isolation

ward.

How old they are and whether they are risk patients was not disclosed.

As hospital spokeswoman Susanne Heintzmann said yesterday in an interview with the local newspaper, they

are now working closely with the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL)

in an effort to get the

corona outbreak

under control among

the staff of the Schongau hospital

.

"They were there with three

doctors

, looked at everything and checked our quarantine plan together with the health department," she said.

All 600 employees have to be quarantined, but continue to go to work in the hospital

Among other things, it was stipulated that all 600 employees of the Schongau Hospital would be

sent to

quarantine

at

home

.

In the same breath, all

employees of the hospital in Schongau were

classified as "systemically relevant for care".

Therefore, they can “continue to work under the protective measures already taken”, said managing director Lippmann.

One of the protective measures is that the wearing of

FFP2 masks in hospitals is

mandatory and that

patients are

only cared for in single rooms.

A complete

evacuation of the hospital

is not possible because

other clinics and nursing homes refuse

to take the patients over (we reported).

For the employees, however, the decision also means that they will only

commute

between their home and the

hospital

for the next 14 days

.

"Those who do not work are in quarantine and have to stay at home," Lippmann clarified.

Corona outbreak in Schongau Hospital: Gradual return to normal operation from November 7th at the earliest

During this 14-day period,

admission and visits to the Schongau hospital will

continue to apply

.

From November 7th, the hospital will gradually return to normal operations.

"The prerequisite for this, however, is that all employees

show

a

negative test result

three times in a row

," said press spokeswoman Susanne Heintzmann yesterday.

"All of our efforts are now aimed

at maintaining

medical care in the

hospital in Weilheim

to the usual extent," said managing director Lippmann in an interview with the local newspaper.

Coronavirus outbreak: Two employees in the Weilheim hospital tested positive

The entire staff would also be tested here during ongoing operations.

However, there has

been no admission

stop

so far

.

So far,

two employees of the Weilheim hospital have tested positive

and are in quarantine at home.

"Whether the infection took place in the hospital or in a private environment is currently being clarified at full speed," said Heintzmann.

All "

pendulum doctors

" who were deployed in both Weilheim and Schongau had tested negative and would now only work in Weilheim.

Discharge freeze lifted: healthy patients can go home

Particularly important for the

patients

who are still in

the

hospital

in

Schongau

and are not infected with the corona virus: "The discharge freeze has been lifted," says Managing Director Lippmann.

Many had feared that they would have to stay in the hospital for 14 days, although this would not be necessary.

If there is no need for further

inpatient care

and the affected patients have tested negative for the corona virus, they could be discharged, says Lippmann.

However, the doctor's letter would point out the “special situation” in the Schongau hospital.
