- Once again, the Forstern fire brigade can look forward to support from the Dietmar Zumpf Foundation.

After the foundation, based in Preisendorf, had already supported the armed forces around 15 years ago with a first aid rucksack and the first responder in 2012 with 5000 euros, another check for 5000 euros has now been presented.

For this purpose, members of the board of trustees and fire brigade, the board of directors and supporters met in Preisendorf at the Mesnerhaus, the former home of the Zumpf family, whose preservation is anchored in the foundation.

The foundation is dedicated to Dietmar, the deceased son of Johanna and Franz Josef Zumpf.

"It came about after a hard stroke of fate," said Foundation Chairman Kerstin Möstl, recalling its establishment: Dietmar Zumpf studied medicine at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

But on May 3, 1991, he had a fatal accident in a traffic accident near Forstinning.

It was important for the parents to let their son's humanitarian outlook live on.

In 1994 they set up a public foundation under civil law.

Forstern's mayor Rainer Streu, himself an active fire fighter and active with the first responders from the start, thanked the community for the donation.

Eight years ago, the money was put into the purchase of the first responder emergency vehicle.

This year the first aiders are celebrating their tenth anniversary.

“We were able to help numerous people during this time,” said Streu, and said that we already had an eye on what the current donation could be used for: The helpers would like new combat clothing, for example light-colored softshell jackets.

Michael Patermann, who heads the first responder group, reported that the armed forces currently have 25 men and women who have completed this special training.

“And not on a full-time basis, but on a voluntary basis.

I can only say my respect to everyone who sacrifices their time for training and commitment, ”said Patermann.

He is glad that the fire brigade is offering the First Responder, after all, they can do 120 missions a year.

This year you will probably end up with around 80 alarms - as is well known, the Corona lockdown in spring also had an impact on the first aid service.

"We are always ready when the beeper goes - at any time of the day or night," assured Patermann.

Chairwoman Möstl, whose daughter Katrin Hebler acts as her deputy, thanked the volunteers for their commitment.

Speaking to the fire fighters, she said it was "an honor to support people like you in their work".

Originally the foundation was dedicated to the medical faculty of TUM.

Research tasks should be subsidized, material costs should be covered and students should be supported with scholarships.

An important institution is the doctoral award, which is still awarded once a year - to graduates of the TUM medical faculty who pass their doctorate “summa cum laude”.

Members of the university and practicing doctors, among others, run the business on a voluntary basis via a foundation board.

This currently includes Dr.

Wilhelm Pihale as chairman and Prof. Dr.

Cornelia Höß as deputy chairwoman and Prof. Dr.

Peter Henningsen, Anton Grill and Hermann Zumpf, Uncle of Dietmar Zumpf.
