During the peak hours of work today (29th), the MTR Tsuen Wan Line overhead cable failed, and the Tsuen Wan Line service was delayed by 8 to 10 minutes, resulting in a forced explosion on multiple platforms on the Tsuen Wan Line.

The MTR stated that the overhead cable on a section of the Tsuen Wan Line towards Central had tripped and arranged for two trains on the section to return to the factory for inspection.

A MTR spokesperson said that at about 5:50 pm, the overhead cable on the section of the Tsuen Wan Line between Mei Foo Station and Cheung Sha Wan Station in the direction of Central had tripped. There were three trains on the section.

As it is not ruled out that there may be a train failure that affects the jump of the overhead cable, for the sake of prudence, the Train Control Center arranges two trains to return to the factory for inspection, and ask passengers to transfer to the next train to continue the journey. During the incident, the Tsuen Wan Line The overall journey (from the terminus to the terminus) will be extended by about 8 to 10 minutes.

Stations and carriages have made announcements to inform passengers of the latest train services.

The spokesperson pointed out that by about 6:07 in the afternoon, the incident was handled and the service resumed normal.

The spokesman also pointed out that the incident occurred during the evening peak hours, and certain stations had implemented crowd control measures based on actual conditions.

There was also a delay in the MTR incident at 7:30 this morning. There were cracks in the track between Mong Kok Station and Prince Edward Station. Trains on the Tsuen Wan Line had to run slowly when passing through the section from Mong Kok Station to Prince Edward Station. The maintenance staff confirmed the problem after inspection. The road section can continue to drive safely, and the service will gradually return to normal at 8:30.
