Police arrested a 19-year-old tertiary male student on suspicion of loitering at a unit on Broadcast Drive in Kowloon City this (29th) morning.
The man charged was suspected of committing verbal harassment and indecency to five female students in a prestigious school in Kowloon Tong from September to October this year.
According to the police, the suspect followed the girl who left the school alone during school hours and stopped the girl when he went to a secluded place. After asking the girl about the location of the bathroom, he became incontinent and smiled in front of him. The victim fled in panic. At that time, the suspect caught up and made speech harassment.
It is understood that the girl who was victimized was studying at the Lino Seminary (secondary school), and the suspect was an IVE student.
The police recently (27th) received a case involving a female middle school in Kowloon City District, stating that a total of 5 students aged between 15 and 17 were harassed by the same young man from last month to the present month.
After in-depth investigation, the police today arrested a 19-year-old college student surnamed Xie, suspected of loitering. The arrested person is being detained for investigation.
Inspector Tong Junling, Director of Criminal Investigation Team 7 of the Kowloon City Police District, explained to the case that the suspect used the same method every time he committed the crime. He followed the female student who had left the school gate alone during school hours and stopped the victim when he arrived in a place with less crowds. Inquired about the location of the nearby restroom, and then deliberately became incontinent in front of the victim and smiled at the victim.
After the victim felt scared and fled the scene, the suspect continued to follow the victim and made verbal harassment.
