In the Strasbourg region, several hundred fairgrounds (between 250 and 400, depending on the prefecture and the organizers), from all over the Grand Est, converged in the morning at the wheel of their vehicles towards the Alsatian capital.

"We are asking for the repeal of the decree (of October 16) which bans fairgrounds throughout France" and "forbids us the right to work", one of the movement's spokespersons, Sassi, told AFP. Ben Mourdi.

“Tomorrow (Friday), we will be confined but if the day after the deconfinement, we do not have the right to resume our activity (...), there will be the follow-up that will happen (...) Today, it's a warm-up, ”he warned, recalling that the fairgrounds of the Grand Est were already severely affected by the cascading cancellations of the Christmas markets in the region, including those, emblematic, of Strasbourg and Colmar.

The vehicles (between 80 and a hundred, depending on the prefecture and the organizers) left Brumath (Bas-Rhin) at the start of the morning, about twenty kilometers north of Strasbourg, to reach the Alsatian metropolis via the A35, creating several kilometers of traffic jams, according to the Bas-Rhin prefecture.

They then joined the European Parliament, according to Mr. Ben Mourdi.

A delegation was then to be received at the prefecture, he added.

In the Southwest, fairgrounds and circus people organized a similar snail operation on the A20 to protest against the confinement, according to the gendarmerie.

They left Brive in the direction of Limoges where Bison Futé identified in the middle of the day 14 km of traffic jam behind their convoy.

In Toulouse, the fairgrounds also disrupted traffic on the ring road from 8 a.m., organizing a snail operation with around 35 vehicles, police told AFP.

On the A9, in the direction Montpellier-Nîmes, several tens of kilometers of traffic jams also paralyzed traffic early Thursday afternoon, the fairgrounds protesting again against the ban on fairgrounds, AFP noted. .

“Fairgrounds prohibited, why?”, Could one read on the banner displayed on one of the trucks blocking traffic on this particularly busy road axis.

“National fairground strike,” proclaimed another banner.

Near Marseille, about sixty trucks and 200 demonstrators blocked the A7, between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., first in the direction Lyon-Marseille, then in both directions, according to the Prefecture of Police.
