Three people were killed by a knife in the French city of Nice

Three people were killed today by stabbing a knife in Nice, southern France.

"The police shot the suspected attacker during his arrest while he was on his way to the hospital and he was still alive," Reuters quoted Christian Estrozzi, mayor of Nice, as telling reporters, describing the act as a terrorist.

The French counterterrorism attorney general's department said it had received a request to investigate the attack.
