FIGAROVOX / INTERVIEW - The Turkish regime uses the hatred of its compatriots against the Armenians to make the 700,000 Turks who live on our soil hate France, analyzes journalist Christophe Makarian.

Writer, journalist, specialist in international, religious and cultural issues, editor-in-chief at Point then deputy editor-in-chief of L'Express, Christian Makarian is now a consultant for various audiovisual media

.

In particular, at the beginning of October, he released

Genealogy of the Catastrophe, Rediscovering Wisdom in the Face of the Unpredictable (Cerf).

FIGAROVOX.

- Décines, a French commune located in the metropolis of Lyon, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, has seen hundreds of Turkish nationalists marching through its streets in search of Armenians.

Why are we now seeing these kinds of events?

Christian MAKARIAN.

-

We are witnessing this type of event because the Turkish regime is now instrumentalizing European citizens of Turkish origin.

Some of them are enrolled in far-right movements, such as the "gray wolves", which take over on French national territory hateful, racist and anti-Christian slogans which are entirely fomented by the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

About Erdogan precisely, what is his control and his real influence on the Turks who live in France?

Erdogan has two goals regarding Turks living in France, regardless of whether they have French citizenship or not.

They constitute in the eyes of the Turkish regime a fifth column which meets a double objective.

The first is to strengthen the nationalist movement that supports the AKP, Erdogan's Islamist party.

The second objective is to use this Turkish immigration to control the Islam of France.

Over the past two years, Erdogan has moved astoundingly in both directions.

In particular by taking up a speech imported from Turkey and which shifts the hatred of the Turks towards France.

The goal is to allow it to target both the Armenians and France while France has nothing to do with this conflict.

For the Turks, France is a country in which the Armenians have peacefully settled for a century, in which they prospered and succeeded in integrating in a remarkable way, to the point of being set up as an example not only of an integration. but also a successful assimilation.

Armenians are therefore constitutive of the history of France in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

They are the symbol of republican and universalist success, two symbols that Turkish nationalists want to destroy.

Armenians in France seen by Turkish fascist forces as a target to be shot down

They want to instill in France a hatred which exists on the part of the Turks towards the Armenians and which no longer has any rationality.

We are in a totally irrational movement which aims to foment a nationalism in which the Armenians are only a pretext.

Armenia, which gained independence in 1991, was recognized by the Republic of Turkey.

She has never committed a single act of aggression against Turkey.

But Erdogan's regime, by supporting Azerbaijan, has introduced an option that has no place in international law, ie the famous slogan "

one nation, two states

".

In other words, everything that serves the cause of Azerbaijan also serves the cause of Turkey.

As such, the Armenians of France are seen by the Turkish fascist forces as an objective to be defeated.

Which country has the most influence on the Islamist movement?

Turkey?

Iran?

Pakistan?

Turkey!

Turkey is a state where the religious organization is subject to state control through two bodies that are the Diyanet and the Ditib.

Turkey has equipped itself with instruments for the mastery of religion and the domestication of religion for the benefit of political power.

Its hold over the Islam of France resides in the 700,000 Turks who reside in France.

Through this population, Turkey sees a way to take control of all the Islam of France since the Arab countries, from which the Muslims originate, are infinitely less organized than Turkey is in religious matters.

There are no organizations comparable to the Turks in the Magreb countries.

Turkey is organizing in a regimental way its hold on the Islam of France;

it allows the Turks to be a kind of forward column for the politicization of Islam.

It is an alliance between religion in the service of politics, and politics in the service of an authoritarian regime.
