Jade Dynasty, a comics publishing house founded by the famous Hong Kong cartoonist Huang Yulang, collaborated with another publishing house to publish "Dragon Tiger Gate", but the publishing house alleged that Jade Dynasty had not paid royalties according to the contract, so it filed with the District Court yesterday (30th) 2.64 million yuan was collected.
The plaintiff is Comic Culture Co., Ltd., and the defendant is Jade Dynasty Publishing Co., Ltd.
The filing stated that the two parties signed an agreement in 2018 to allow the defendant to publish the comics "Dragon and Tiger Gate" from 2223 to 2274 and its peripheral products; the two parties then signed an agreement in 2019 to continue co-publishing "The New Dragon and Tiger Gate".
The plaintiff stated that the defendant should pay 2.92 million royalties to the plaintiff from August 2019 to May this year. However, the plaintiff wrote to the plaintiff several times to collect the payment and failed. After deducting the 280,000 deposit paid by the defendant when signing the contract, the defendant still owed 2.64 million yuan.
