Some 810 kg of cannabis resin and several weapons, including a Kalashnikov-type assault rifle, were seized by gendarmes in a hangar on the outskirts of Perpignan (South), said the national gendarmerie on Friday, October 30.

Informed by their colleagues from Cergy-Pontoise (Paris region), the gendarmes of Montpellier (South) are investigating "a criminal network of importing narcotics from Spain to France," said a statement.
They carried out "numerous surveillance and monitoring allowing them to identify a man receiving large quantities of narcotics in a hangar located in the suburbs of Perpignan".
And on October 26, the investigators "materialize" two unloadings in the monitored hangar. An operation was triggered allowing the arrest of two traffickers and the seizure of 810 kg of cannabis resin, 34,000 euros in cash as well as several weapons including an AK-47 (Kalashnikov) type assault rifle.
