The head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, who continues with the performance of her duties in the distance since she tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, has announced at the press conference this Friday that the city will remain on an orange traffic light " with alert ”.

The alert does not imply new restrictions, but it does call on the population to be extremely vigilant and minimize social contacts to reduce the spread of the virus, especially during the celebrations for the Day of the Dead.

Sheinbaum has also warned that if the trend of epidemiological data, which continues to show a slight but sustained growth over time, continues the same, next Friday new measures to restrict schedules will be announced "in which we are already working" .

The governor has reported that hospitalizations continue to rise, but remain below the peak of the pandemic reached in May.

In the Valley of Mexico, 3,887 have been registered, of which 923 have required ventilated beds.

In Mexico City, 2,893 hospitalizations have been reached, 723 with respiratory assistance.

The epidemiological model of the authorities indicates that the growth rate of the virus is positive, so it continues to expand.

However, Sheinbaum has assured that the percentage of hospital occupancy is still "manageable".

Occupied beds represent 41.51% of the general total and 36.1% in those that require assistance from a ventilator.

The PCR tests being carried out by the authorities continue to rise, especially during the last 10 days.

They have managed to perform 4,453 daily tests, a significant change from the record of 3,674 they achieved in September.

In Mexico City, this increase is due in part to the increase in kiosks available for care, in addition to health centers.

Even so, Sheinbaum has called on the entire population to continue respecting the measures to alleviate the pandemic.

"We have to resume the downward trend in hospitalizations to resume activities," he stressed.

The local government has reported that they have closed 26 stores that operated irregularly and did not comply with the rules of capacity and hours.

In light of the data, the Government team keeps closed the activities, among others, of bars, clubs and canteens, schools, nurseries, public baths, billiards, offices, sporting and musical events.

They have also once again emphasized that this Day of the Dead should prevail private celebrations in homes instead of vigils and pilgrimages to altars and pantheons.

The latter will remain closed until the holiday is over.

In total, throughout the Republic, more than 910,000 positive cases and 90,000 deaths have been registered.

In the last 24 hours, Mexico City added 1,262 new cases and 60 deaths, adding to a cumulative total of 158,518 infections and 15,047 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The local government estimates that there are 3,840 suspected cases.

Sheinbaum has once again recalled the need to maintain a healthy distance, hand washing, ventilation of closed spaces and the use of face masks as fundamental elements to protect against contagions.

Anyone with symptoms can send an SMS with the word "Covid19" to 51515 to request medical assistance and have a test performed if necessary.
