A French police source announced today that a priest was shot in the French city of Lyon, and that the attacker fled.
Reuters quoted the source as saying that the priest was shot twice while closing the church.
For its part, the French Ministry of the Interior said in a statement via Twitter that security forces and ambulance units had deployed in the Jean Massy area of the seventh district in Lyon due to a "serious accident", adding that a security cordon had been imposed around the site of the accident.
