SPIEGEL:

Mr. Schäuble, does this encounter with Luisa Neubauer also make you uncomfortable?

Schäuble:

No, I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

Why should I be uncomfortable with that?

SPIEGEL:

Because Fridays for Future shows you, your party and your generation what you have missed out on in terms of climate policy.

And what problems you are leaving behind for future generations.

Schäuble:

I wouldn’t adopt each of your formulations as my own, but in essence your description cannot be disputed, I’m afraid.

So it's really nice to get to know people who make up for what we have missed.

SPIEGEL:

Ms. Neubauer, do you take the joy of your activism from him?

Neubauer:

To be honest, that sounds a bit strange to me.

We are only saying what has been known for decades.

The climate crisis has been extremely well researched.

You knew that it would become more dramatic the longer you wait for the necessary countermeasures to become more and more drastic.

Politicians, with full or at least sufficient awareness, have decided not to act.
