"I won't let them get away"

The grand building of the Prime Minister's House sits enthroned on a hill in the center of Islamabad.

Prime Minister Khan, 68, receives visitors here.

He enters the room in a crisp white traditional Shalwar Kamiz with a blue vest.

The once so casual cricket world champion and former playboy has become an exhausted statesman who grapples with a multitude of problems at the same time.

Pakistan

is on the brink of economics, the opposition has allied itself against Khan, and the powerful military with which he has been closely involved limits his leeway.

Khan's government is currently mediating in the peace talks between the

US

and the Afghan

Taliban

which are accompanied by ever new outbreaks of violence.

Only the comparatively low Corona numbers are a glimmer of hope at the moment.

SPIEGEL:

Prime Minister, your country seems to do better than its neighbors in the pandemic, with around 6,700 deaths to date for 220 million people with significantly fewer infections.
