The director of the Catalan police attributes the incidents to "very violent and organized minority groups" of the extreme right

A march against the restrictions of the Generalitat of Catalonia to contain covid-19 ended this Friday with riots in Barcelona.

The unreported protest brought together "very violent and organized extreme right groups" - according to the director of the Mossos, Pere Ferrer - in the city's Plaza de Sant Jaume at seven in the afternoon.

Some launched fences against the police and fireworks.

The Mossos charged to dissolve a protest that ended with 12 detainees, two of them minors.

The demonstration in Barcelona brought together heterogeneous groups united by social unrest as a result of restrictions due to the coronavirus, which in Catalonia has led to the closure of restaurants, nightlife, beauty centers and in recent days also gyms, shopping centers and cultural activities .

From the beginning, assistants to the demonstration and police sources agree, some groups of people that the police link to the world of nightlife, security and the extreme right, showed the intention of causing some type of incident.

Something that materialized shortly after, when hooded men took the fences that were in the Plaza de Sant Jaume and threw them against the police line, which also received fireworks.

The Mossos reacted by charging against the protesters and dissolving the protest, which spread through the streets of the city center, such as Via de Laietana, Calle de Ferran or Plaza de Urquinaona, known because it was a symbolic scene of the protests after the sentence of the

.

Some containers, urban furniture were burned and at least one person was injured by a stone in the head, according to the Mossos.

The races, the sirens and the vans up and down lasted until after nine at night in the center of Barcelona.

Also on Friday night, several dozen protesters have caused riots in the Gamonal neighborhood of Burgos after concentrating against the confinement and curfew measures.

The vandals have burned several containers and have thrown objects such as stones and bottles at the members of the National Police deployed in the area.

The political authorities of Castilla y León and the city of Burgos have censored the altercations and have highlighted that these concentrations contribute to the spread of infections.

The regional president, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has asked for "serenity and responsibility."

The mayor of Burgos, Daniel de la Rosa, has condemned the riots.

The councilor points to "irresponsible deniers", linked to the extreme right and with the support of Vox, who called a meeting not allowed to criticize the state of alarm.

To these approximately 350 people, radical leftist groups were added that infiltrated, according to De la Rosa, to take advantage of the confusion and create altercations with the other extremists around 9:45 p.m.

At that time there were about 40 or 50 violent people. The absence of members of the National Police, assigned to other parts of the province where incidents were also expected, allowed these groups to advance down the street and destroy 26 containers, damage five vehicles and various shop windows.

Two people have been arrested and attempts are being made to identify the other participants in the violent protests.

The mayor of Burgos applauds the citizens who shouted from their balconies against these protesters.

"I'm proud of the neighborhood's reaction," he says.

Incidents were also recorded in Cantabria, where hundreds of people participated in the rallies that took place in the main Cantabrian cities, which ended with riots, eight detainees and a wounded National Police officer.

Specifically, those arrested are seven men and one woman, of whom one is a minor, and were arrested for attack, disobedience or damage, according to police sources.

These protests follow those of the previous night in Bilbao, where six people were arrested after strong clashes between several dozen deniers who were protesting the use of masks and the curfew.

The protesters threw stones and burned more than twenty garbage containers that ended up affecting four parked vehicles.

On Monday night, a score of young people starred in the first violent acts against the curfew in the Sevillian neighborhood of Pino Montano.

They launched flares, rockets and burned several containers.
