With the participation of 6,235 students from the first grade of secondary school from various governorates, the second round of tests for the first phase of the new season of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad 2020-2021 was conducted today.

The tests organized by the Excellence and Creativity Authority were held at the same time and for a period of an hour and a half in the various governorates and focused on the subjects of “Biology and Chemistry”. Question samples were developed by the central scientific committees in the Olympiad administration, provided that the answer sheets were corrected in an automated and central manner.

During Sana’s follow-up to the tests that took place in Damascus and the provinces, Nabug Yassin, Director of the Syrian Olympiad at the Excellence and Creativity Authority, confirmed after her tour of the exams at the Faculty of Information at the University of Damascus that participation for the current season was limited to the outstanding students in the Basic Education Certificate who possessed 2800 and above and 2620 for Sharia education students in subjects. In statements to SANA, the students, Reham Qassem, Mudar Al-Ghoutani, Shahid Nassar, Yara Al-Dirani, Maher Nizamuddin Suleiman, Batoul Yasser Hassan, Rahma Deraii, Dana Muhammad Al-Lahham, and Areej Abu Al-Jouz spoke about the high level of questions and their difficulty, expressing their happiness to participate in the competitions of the new season of the Olympics and the efforts they are making In order to achieve advanced positions in the upcoming tests and to join the national teams to participate in international competitions.

In As-Suwayda, the head of the Damascus University branch in the governorate, Dr. Mansour Hudayfah, confirmed that holding Olympic exams for university study seats this season is of great importance and represents an incentive for tenth grade students to follow the march of knowledge and excellence and a message to the world that Syrian youth are not discouraged by any circumstances and that creativity is renewed and lasting.

In Lattakia, the coordinator of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in the governorate, Ali Riahi, said that the nature of the tests is closer to a test of mental abilities and intellectual and analytical skills, and that the Olympiad is a new experience worthy of the students, as it gives participants the opportunity to think outside the box and acquire new skills that contribute to building their personality.

The two students, Ali Darwish and Majd Halloul, made it clear that their participation in the Olympiad opens new horizons for them to discover all that is new in the world of knowledge away from school curricula and traditional teaching methods, and was supported by the opinion of student Muhammad Suleiman, who indicated that the training they underwent during the last period had a positive role in Prepare them for this experience.

The director of Hama Education, Yahya Munjid, drew attention to preparing a number of halls to host students participating in the Olympiad in the Faculties of Pharmacy and Dentistry, while taking all necessary measures to address the Corona epidemic by sterilizing the halls and securing spatial distancing.

In Deir Al-Zour, student Hussein Al-Hawaij expressed his happiness to participate in this competition, stressing that the level of questions is consistent with the student's understanding of the subject, while the student Khatam al-Abdullah, participating in the subject of chemistry, indicated that the Scientific Olympiad is an opportunity for excellence and creativity, and that the level of questions needs more understanding and focus.

The tests for the first phase of the new season of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad were launched on the twenty-fourth of this month for students participating in mathematics, physics and informatics.

The competitions for the new season of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad 2020-2021 are conducted through three stages, and the participating student must pass the first and second stage tests to reach the final competitions at the level of Syria to achieve an advanced position and deserve the membership of the national team with its scientific subject.

The second-stage exams are scheduled to take place within the governorates on Saturday 5-12-2020, and those who succeed with their results will qualify for the third and final stage exams, which are scheduled to be held during the school midday between 5 and 24-1-2020 in a single examination center to be determined later.
