, the coast around Izmir was hit.
The authorities report a total of more than
80 fatalities.

The rescue of the girl could be seen on TV pictures.
Helpers carried the child into a hospital tent.

He is part of an Istanbul rescue team that
traveled
to
Izmir
to provide support

Celik
said they had been focused on
saving the girl
since Sunday night
.
When they discovered the child lying on its back, they first thought it was dead. “She had dust on her face, her face was snow-white.
When we cleaned her face,
Elif opened
her eyes, that was when we were really frozen, ”he said.
The girl smiled at her.
It is a

“I reached out my hand, Elif was clinging to my hand.

14-year-old was
rescued
from the rubble
and taken to a
hospital
after first aid on site

The youngster had reportedly been
under the
rubble for
58 hours
.
According to official information,
more than 100 people
have so far been
rescued
after the earthquake on Friday
.
The emergency services continued to look for survivors on Monday.
In total

according to media reports,
a woman and three of her children
were rescued from the rubble
in the western Turkish city of
Izmir
.
They were carried to the ambulance on couches to applause, as was shown on recordings on the
TRT
broadcaster
on Saturday.
According to
TRT
, the
helpers then tried to get to
the fourth child, who was suspected to be under the rubble.
It was initially unclear whether it was still alive.
The rescue workers were able to contact the woman beforehand.
"When you hear my voice, knock three times," called a helper.
The woman then gave a sound signal.
According to
TRT
,
her husband recorded
where he suspected his wife to be in the apartment.
According to the latest information,
28 people were
killed in
the quake on Friday afternoon
.

Earthquake devastates island and coast - video shows tsunami - death toll rises

The death toll has
risen drastically again
after the
severe earthquake in the Aegean Sea
: a total of
25 people
have died so far as a result of the disaster on Friday.
More than 800 people were injured, reports the state news agency
Anadolu
, citing the
civil
protection
agency Afad
.
In the night from Friday to Saturday there were supposed to have been hundreds of
aftershocks
- according to the disaster control department on Saturday morning even one of the magnitude 5.0 in the region of the
western Turkish district of Seferihisar
.
The
city of Izmir was
particularly
hard hit by the earthquakes.
Around 1200 rescue teams and helpers are still looking for survivors in the rubble here.
On Saturday night, a woman was rescued from a completely destroyed building after 17 hours, and nine other buildings in the area were searched, reports

The center of the earthquake was in the
Aegean Sea
, right in front of the
Turkish province
and
hit
it with full force: According to
Afad, the
first quake on Friday afternoon was
6.6 - the

, a
tsunami
triggered by the violent quake caused
the water to overflow its banks.

The residents of Samos were called upon to escape from the
houses

danger
of collapsing and to spend the night outdoors

the
Greek geologists were
initially unsure whether this was the main quake.
Samos
now has

two of the total of 25 fatalities

The number of dead in
western Turkey
has
risen to 12
after the
earthquake

At least 419 people were injured, said the Turkish civil protection agency Afad.
This increased the
total number of deaths to 14

According to media reports, eight injured people are being treated in the hospital.

Earthquakes in Turkey and Greece: Young people die on their way home from school
Update from October 30, 5:37 p.m.:
On the Greek island of
Samos
,
two 17-year-old youths were found dead
after the
earthquake
.
According to Greek media reports, the girl and boy in the small town of Vathy were walking home after school when walls collapsed in a narrow alley due to the quake.
Greek authorities had previously reported eight injuries who had been taken to hospital on the island after the earthquake.
There is still uncertainty about other injured or dead people.

governor of Izmir
said that so far no precise
information about victims or damage has been
made.
