The state of Florida is once again, as it happened in the crucial 2000 election, the epicenter of a vote-to-vote fight between the two candidates for the presidency of the United States.
With 85% of the votes counted, at 8:05 p.m. local time (two hours more in Argentina), President Donald Trump obtained 4,930,951 votes, 49.6%, while his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, reached 4,908 .833, 49.4%.
Florida is one of the
key states
to define the election, with 29 votes for the Electoral College.
By the voting system in the United States, whoever wins in a state, even by a small margin, takes all the voters.

This is one of the so-called "swing states", where there is no tradition of victory for one party, as is the case with others, which are traditionally Democratic or Republican.
And both Trump and Biden fired much of their field artillery in Florida, with the main goal of capturing the votes of Latinos and older adults there.
The memory of the battle of the November 2000 elections between Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Al Gore hovered on this election night.
On that occasion, the dispute ended up being resolved in court, and the final results of the elections were confirmed weeks after the election.
